The heart of every rifles accuracy starts with a good chamber, this is what Short Action Customs does best. Each barrel is carefully indicated on the actual bore within .0002″. No metal rods in the bore which gives inconsistent readings and stacked tolerances. The threads are cut concentric to the bore with the proper thread fit. The curvature of the bore is indexed in the 12 o’clock position and the action is timed perfectly to this location. This ensures no induced windage or elevation problems will occur due to the location of the barrel. Once the action and bolt clearances are fit properly, the chamber is cut to the customers specs. Special throating, necking and chamber work can be performed at this time. In the end, the customer has a perfect chamber to minimum specs that will show no measurable runout in relationship to the bore with a .0001″ dial indicator.
Winchester M70 and FN SPR type rifles requiring an extractor groove require an additional step in the Milling Machine in order to Mill the extractor slot.
